About This Game
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (NSP ROM) is an action game that blends the world and characters of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series. While set in the same era as Breath of the Wild, Hyrule Warriors offers a completely different gameplay experience. Instead of exploring an endless open world, you’ll delve into the rise of evil through a series of wars and a story that takes place a century before the events of Breath of the Wild. Those seeking the full freedom of adventure and the open world of Breath of the Wild might be disappointed, as Koei Tecmo’s narrative style doesn’t quite replicate it.
Story
The story is surprisingly well-constructed, with unexpected twists. It’s nice to see the characters interact as a group, especially considering that Breath of the Wild had very few flashbacks of this kind. Unfortunately, the relationship between Link and Zelda is largely relegated to the background. The two become inseparable for no apparent reason, and unlike Breath of the Wild, there’s no animosity before they even meet. I wish the game had explored the moments from the previous title in more depth, but the interactions are still fun. If you’ve played Warriors or Musou games, you know exactly what to expect: massacring hundreds (or thousands) of enemies as you advance across the battlefield toward your next objective.
